One of our colleagues and valued corporate procurement guru, Natasha Anscombe introduced us to Victoria Joseph in HR at Dulwich College.
The brief was to provide training to a selection of operations staff in Excel and Word 2007.
This training had been flagged either by the staff member or by their appraisal.
There were two challenges here both around timing. One was that although Half Term was approaching not all staff members were available outside of term time and the other was time spent away from the “day job”.
So a full day of training on each of the products was not feasible. However, we came up with the idea of half days, one half day for each product for each group on week 1 and then in week 2 the second half day for both groups.
We did have mixed abilities but with a collaborative and inclusive attitude everyone moved on a stage at least in their software development and usage. We had very enthusiastic and engaged delegates which made the training a complete joy.
Working in an environment of a such an historic school as Dulwich College is both entertaining and very different and we look forward to the next courses which may well be outside of term-time. But we believe that as a training partner we like to work as flexibly as we can to engage, deliver and develop learning.
Some of the delegates’ comments are attached.
