A prime motivator for change is often stated as, "If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got!". i.e. if you want to achieve something different, you have to DO something differently. Whilst I agree with the principle of this, experience shows that this statement needs a caveat - if you always do what you've always done, others will overtake you and you will end up going backwards!! It seemed to set the tone for the whole contract. On arrival the department was in 'panic' since most of the users were utilsing their RAS and the staff were frantically trying to deal with the demand. I offered my help and was refused. I was told to go home as if I was an irritant that they had not been expecting. In addition to this my new 'line manager' who arrived in the work place a day later said to me 'that this kind of thing is not expected', and, 'I should 'not put myself out as nobody else in the team would'. So is being committed and providing 'value' in the work place sometimes seen in a negative light by other team members? Getting hired for merit means we need to know and value our natural strengths and gifts even more than in the past... so yes I agree we need to know the products, markets and people around us, yet the first place often not explored is the wonderful 'person' you are, as you say 'the personal touch' counts inside and out! I have been blessed to work with more and more men and women eager to create value and meaning in their careers and lives ...and as I help them progress and 'close deals' through their personal touch, they value how they 'touch' 'move' and 'inspire' others. The Law of Attraction only works if you love yourself, warts and all!! We attract opportunities and magical conversations into our business (lives) because of who we are not what we do!! Val you are so right, 'strategic partnerships' are taking on new energy so let's make sure we know who we are inside and speak with perfect self expression!! and let's also build unconditonal 'alliance partnerships' and collaborate in an open source way to bring even more magic alive....
